Three Little Pigs

This week we are doing our Three Little Pig Unit.  We wrote about a new pig in town, the 4th Little Pig.  We also made symmetrical pigs to go along with our math discussion on symmetry.  The children really enjoyed this activity.  Today we had a non-fiction day on pigs and we worked in teams to do our have, can and are chart.

Baked Potato Survey and Snack

We tried one of the new activities I made for my St. Patrick's Day Unit.  We surveyed our classmates on baked potato toppings,  ate the potatoes, and then wrote about our conclusions.  I was so impressed that all 23 first graders tried the potatoes and not one student said they didn't like it.  Some children even discovered broccoli and came up for seconds.  It is always so much fun when food is involved!

St. Patrick's Day

Yesterday my first graders had so much fun getting ready for St. Patrick's Day.  We created leprechaun traps and set them all around the classroom.  We are hoping to catch a leprechaun over the weekend!
